I got the post morten results a couple of days ago. Ian died from multiple organ failure caused by severe sepsis/septicaemia, the source of which was indeed the abscess around his right hip. Poor, poor Ian. No wonder he said to me an hour before being rushed to ITU, "I have never felt so sick in my whole life". He was so brave.

So, it's all set it stone now ... the funeral is finalised.

Lisa, I extend my deepest sympathy to you and to all who loved Ian. I wish you strength for your journey, through the funeral and in your life afterward. As my then five-year-old grandson said at the time of my mother's death, "If you love them, they live in your heart."

Of course, it's not the same as having Ian beside you every day. I hope the pain of his absence grows less over time, but this kind of loss is something that you never really get over.

    Much love,

    Mimi

Lisa...don't feel obligated to respond to this. Just know you're still on my mind and I hope you're doing ok.
